+ ABOUT

URBAN ECOLOGY

Elias+ is an award-winning Canadian landscape architecture firm founded in 1993.

The multi-disciplinary firm has worked at scales from small to extra-large. We have established a design philosophy that combines INCLUSIVITY, environmental focus, multi-cultural COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, and aesthetic values.

We encourage our clients, both public and private, to integrate built form with URBAN ECOLOGY AND GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE, an ecosystem approach. It is based on flora and fauna habitat and public space enhancement in order to mitigate the impact of CLIMATE CHANGE. This is illustrated in our most recent transit infrastructure projects.

Our landscape architecture accomplishes human comfort through creative innovation, bioclimatic science, and the aesthetics of the cinematic. Our projects evolve from extensive research in problem solving, historical culture and geology, sensitivity to existing site context and client needs.

Elias + has earned a strong reputation for its ability to adapt to descoped budgets during construction without sacrificing artistic integrity, craftsmanship, attention to detail and quality of construction.

Our academic teaching experience from 1993 to 2020 at the University of Toronto and several other universities has allowed us to develop a strong historical and theoretical background, and obtain current knowledge of acclaimed project precedent and progress. It has also enabled us to mentor and encourage students to flourish in the profession of landscape architecture.
